Auf einem Regionalflughafen im US-Bundesstaat North Carolina ist ein Kleinflugzeug abgestürzt. Es habe mehrere Tote gegeben, zitierte der Sender WBTV einen örtlichen Polizeichef von Iredell County. Der Sender WSOCTV berichte, bei dem Flugzeug habe es sich um einen Cessna-Geschäftsflieger vom Typ C550 gehandelt. Die Maschine sei beim Landeanflug auf den Statesville Regional Airport abgestürzt. Weitere Details waren zunächst nicht bekannt.
Auf Fotos war dunkler Rauch über einer Landebahn zu sehen. Ein Zeuge sagte dem Sender, die Maschine sei sehr niedrig angeflogen. Der Statesville Regional Airport liegt etwa eine Autostunde von der Großstadt Charlotte entfernt.
